The Springfield City School District is thankful for the support of several community organizations who donated items or funds to ensure the District’s students are dressed in warmth as winter weather quickly approaches.
More than 130 bags of coats, blankets, gloves, hats and socks were collected from the Rotary Club of Springfield, Leadership Clark County and Sheltered, Inc. Additionally, The Springfield Foundation contributed 62 coats, 14 hats and a monetary donation of $1,500. All of the cold weather items will be distributed to the District’s students.
“So many of our students, especially at the elementary and middle school levels, walk to school. It is critical that they have the proper clothing to keep them warm all through the winter season,” said SCSD Superintendent Dr. Bob Hill. “The District’s community partners are second to none – always stepping up and stepping in for the needs of our students, no matter what the need may be.”
