A local barbershop is offering free haircuts for Springfield City School District students as an incentive for good attendance and behavior.
The barbers at Champion City Cuts Barbershop began doing this for students in the 2015-16 school year, starting with Lincoln Elementary. But with the help with District Attendance Officer, Camille Rucker, the incentive program has grown this year to include male students in all grade levels.
At the most recent monthly event -- there was a packed house! This reward is based on teacher and principal referral for students who are showing improvement in their attendance, behavior or are in need of a 'pick-me-up.' A similar incentive for female students is already in the works!
