The beginning of 2024 marks an exciting chapter for the Springfield City School District Board of Education, as it welcomes a new member and names a new Board president.
Peg Foley joins the SCSD Board as its newest member. She was elected to the seat by Springfield voters in the Nov. 2023 election. Ms. Foley is a retiree of Park National Bank and is currently employed by Dayton Children’s Hospital. She is also a philanthropist and community leader.
Carol Dunlap was sworn in as the Board’s new president at the Jan. 4 organizational meeting. Ms. Dunlap has served the District on the Board since 2021. She is a retired SCSD educator and lifelong supporter of public education.
Joining Foley and Dunlap on the Board are Vice President Joan Elder, Member Jamie Callan and Member Stephanie Stephens.
“School boards of education shape the foundation upon which generations of students build their futures,” said District Superintendent Dr. Bob Hill. “With wisdom and vision, they foster an environment where learning flourishes, and we are certainly grateful for the leadership that each of these individuals provide to our students and to our District.”
January is designated as School Board Appreciation Month.
