The Springfield City School District, in partnership with the Clark County Educational Service Center, will host an Education Paraprofessional Job Exploration Event on Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 6-8 p.m. at The Dome (700 S. Limestone Street).

The event is open to the public and seeks to share information about the importance of paraprofessionals in classrooms, educational pathways to become a paraprofessional, the availability of a free training program, local paraprofessional job opportunities, as well as pay and benefits.

“Paraprofessionals are historically one of the most difficult positions to fill in school districts,” said Dr. Pam Shay, SCSD Director of Federal Programs. “Part of the reasoning for that is simply because the community lacks knowledge that these career opportunities exist. The Job Exploration Event, which is the first of its kind in recent years, is a chance for people to learn more about the paraprofessional position, see if it would be a good fit for them and potentially assist local districts in filling some of these positions that are critical for the success of our students.”

Those in the community who may be interested in attending the Job Exploration Event may direct any questions to the SCSD Human Resources Department via email (hr@scsdoh.org).
