The Springfield City School District has named three (3) of its employees as ‘Employees of the Year’ following the launch of the Employee Recognition Program last school year.

Blair was selected for her unwavering dedication to bring school spirit and a feeling of unity to the students and staff of SHS.

Marcie Hobson (pictured right), a Family Outreach Connections Specialist in the District’s Family Programming Department was named the Employee of the Year for the employee group that represents District administration. Hobson was selected for her compassion and generosity relating to her work with the District’s population of homeless students.

Fred Waltermier, a secretary in the Transportation Department was named the Employee of the Year for the employee group that represents bus drivers, custodians, cafeteria workers and other classified employees. Waltermier was selected for his positive and proactive attitude in his department – even being willing to get behind the wheel if needed!

Each of these employees was honored during the most recent Board of Education meeting and the all-staff Convocation prior to the first day of school. They will receive a reserved parking spot at their respective buildings for this school year.

The District’s Employee Recognition Program was launched in the 2023-2024 school year as a tool to boost employee relations and spread awareness of the good work conducted each day by District employees.
