Hannah Mattison and Max Arimany pose in their graduation gowns

Springfield High School graduate Hannah Mattison has made her mark on school history as the first student to score two perfect ā€˜7sā€™ on the International Baccalaureate (IB) end-of-course exams.

Hannah (Class of 2024) scored ā€˜7sā€™ on the IB Global Politics HL (Higher Level) and IB Math Applications and Interpretations SL (Standard Level) exams last spring.

Although Hannahā€™s 7s are not the first for SHS, she is the first student to receive two perfect scores in different courses.

Fellow Class of 2024 graduate, Max Arimany also received a perfect 7 on the IB Math Applications and Interpretation SL exam, making his score the ninth perfect score in school history.

Hannah & Maxā€™s scores put them in an elite group of only 5.6% of students worldwide who earned 7s in Global Politics HL and 4.1% of students worldwide who took IB Math Applications and Interpretation SL in 2024.

The last perfect score at SHS was 2021 graduate Thomas Edwards who achieved a perfect 7 in IB English HL.

SHS began offering the IB Program in 2005. To date, SHS remains the only school in Clark County to offer the IB Program to juniors and seniors. IB is designed to offer challenging coursework to academically motivated students in order to prepare them for the rigors of college.
