The Springfield City School District has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2023 by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO).
This award recognizes the District's commitment to transparency and high standards in financial reporting. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and reflects the District’s dedication to providing clear, accurate and comprehensive financial information.
The District earned this honor for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), which was judged on its adherence to rigorous reporting standards and its ability to communicate financial data effectively to stakeholders. The report showcased the District's financial health and operational transparency, setting a benchmark for excellence in public sector financial reporting.
The GFOA and ASBO’s rigorous evaluation process includes a thorough review of financial reports for clarity, completeness and adherence to best practices in financial reporting. This award underscores the District’s successful efforts to maintain accountability and build public trust.
The District also received the Auditor of State Award with Distinction, further affirming the SCSD’s dedication to effective financial management.
