Substitute Employment
Have you considered substitute employment opportunities?
Substitute employment offers eligible candidates the opportunity to pursue education as a possible career on a part-time basis. Flexible scheduling allows candidates the opportunity to work around family obligations, classes and other jobs. Job opportunities can be scheduled in advance through an automated management system.
What do I need in order to qualify to be a substitute teacher?
If you have a four-year degree from an accredited college or university, you qualify! Candidates who successfully complete the application and interview process will need to obtain a substitute teaching certificate from the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). The daily substitute rate is $ 120.00 per day for short term assignments lasting less than 4 weeks. Long Term assignments (assignments lasting 4 weeks or longer) pay a daily rate of $ 194.00.
What do I need in order to qualify as a substitute for a non-teaching position?
For non-teaching positions, eligible candidates must have a high school diploma or GED. Substitute classroom aides/paraprofessionals must acquire an aide permit from the Ohio Department of Education. For more information, go to the ODE Substitute License page.
